Which subject is compulsory for NDA
The written exam for NDA is conducted in 2 categories, this category is Mathematics paper 1, and general ability is paper 2.
Mathematics (Paper 1)
For the paper one subject is mathematics. In the mathematics section, there are 120 numbers of question and the total marks for mathematics is 300.
General ability (Paper 2)
In the NDA examination paper, 2 is general ability. In the general ability section, there are 150 questions and the total marks of the general ability are 600.
These are all paper 1 and paper 2 examinations, the total number of questions is 270 and the time allotted to solve the question to the student is 2 hours and 50 minutes.
All paper 1 and paper 2 questions are in the multiple choice question (MCQ) form and the medium of examination is English and Hindi.
Qualification for the NDA exam
National Defense Academy (NDA) exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The eligibility of the candidate to apply NDA exam is 10 + 2 or intermediate level, l but in the 12th examination.
Students should be clear with the subject which requirement by the NDA examination board. There are three types of NDA examination conducted by the UPSC this examination or department is:
- Army wing
- Airforce And Naval Wings
- 10+2 cadet entry scheme at the Indian naval academy.
For the Army wing
In the examination of NDA, the department for army wing, the eligibility for the army wing is a student must pass 12th class or 10 + 2 any school or equivalent examination conducted by a state Education Board or a University.
Airforce and Naval Wings
Department of the air force and naval wings of NDA. The educational qualification required for the air force and naval wings is a student must pass the 12th class at 10 + 2 pattern of school qualification,
or equivalent with compulsory subject physics, chemistry, and mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
10+2 cadet entry scheme at the Indian naval academy.
NDA examination one more is the 10 + 2 cadet entry scheme at the Indian Naval Academy. The educational compulsory qualification is a student must pass with 60% marks in the 12th examination with compulsory subject physics, chemistry, and mathematics, conducted by a state Education Board or a University.
NDA examination pattern
For the NDA examination mathematics is a compulsory subject, for selection in the NDA examination, actually, there is a two Phases or stages in which every state student must qualify the stage are:
- Written examination
- SSB interview
SSB interview
SSB interview is conducted final screening of the student, after the selection in the written examination for the NDA exam. In the NDA examination, 1:5 students would be selected for the SSB interview, and the selected student of SSB goes for 5 days SSB interview.
This SSB interview is only qualifying in nature. After the qualifying SSB interview, the merit list will be made on the SSB interview and the written examination. Both the marks will be added and then the merit list will be made.
General ability (Paper 2) pattern
In the NDA examination, paper 2 is about general ability. In the general ability, there is 150 question and 150 questions should be 600 marks. The general ability has 6 parts these are:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- History
- Geography
- General Science and
- Current event.
Negative marking in the NDA examination
- In the NDA examination, there is a different negative marking for Paper 1 and Paper 2, when we talk about the negative marking in paper 1. paper one examination, there is a 120 question which has 300 marks, and in mathematics, section 2.5 marks added for the right answer, and for every wrong answer 0.83 marks is deducted from the marks obtained by the students.
- And paper 2 examinations that is general ability. The negative marking pattern is there are total of 150 questions, which has 600 marks for every correct answer for Marks I added and for the wrong answer, there are 1.33 marks deducted from the marks obtained by the candidates.
Tips to qualify NDA exam on the first attempt this year
